Welcome Teresa!

Welcome to our new United Way New Zealand Chief Executive, Teresa Moore!

In 2018 Teresa took on the role and is determined to build on the foundations that United Way has created in New Zealand over the last 44 years.

Teresa is passionate about strengthening our communities. She will utilise her strategic planning, fundraising, marketing and managerial skills to ensure United Way New Zealand acts as a successful conduit between the needs in our communities and the Corporate Social Responsibility requirements in our business sector.

Educated in New Zealand, Teresa's formal qualifications include a Bachelor of Science from the University of Auckland and a Master of Management from Massey University.

Teresa comes from an entrepreneurial background, establishing a tourism business in NZ and Tonga when she was 26, managing local & international companies, building organisations capacity through raising venture capital and working with a variety of governance boards. Her varied career even includes working as a pioneering marine scientist in sub-Antarctic waters.

After finishing her Master’s thesis about ‘How sustainable solar energy is for NZ’ Teresa became increasingly aware of the growing social needs within our communities. Teresa went onto work in the Not for Profit sector, with the Sustainable Electricity Association of NZ, and later managed a not for profit organisation, which concentrated on the welfare of autistic children and their families. These positions involved advocating to Government about social needs within our communities.

Teresa believes in walking the talk and has a variety of voluntary roles including being an executive member of her local charity, the Long Bay Okura Great Park Society.
