Southland charities recognised for their work in the community

Congratulations to the 7 charities in Southland we recently endorsed with certificates, letters of support and donated $38,456 in financial grants to.

"Funding was requested to support the delivery of our Kiwi Can programme to over 800 of Southland’s tamariki, within six partner schools across the region. Kiwi Can is a long-standing and highly successful programme with incredibly strong outcomes in building resilience and self-confidence, developing pro-social skills and fostering well-being for tamariki". "The purpose for which we are applying for funding is the continuation of Youthline Southland’s (YLS) general operations. YLS works with youth who are vulnerable, at risk, and experiencing the need for support in their lives. Our goal is to support rangatahi to build resilience and grow to become happy and healthy members of our community." Youthline Southland

"In Gore for each victim helped directly we are told that a further tenfold benefit from this help which equates with a further 820 people. Our Support Workers listen without judgement and in confidence, and their help may be needed for weeks, months and sometimes years". Victim Support Gore

"This funding is for our Invercargill Pathway Centre, located in the Invercargill Men's Prison. The pathway center operates on
weekends by Pillars support staff. The center are designed to provide a safe environment for families to visit fathers; to
maintain and grow relationships that are impacted by imprisonment". Pillars Southland

"We are focused on supporting whānau, vulnerable children, youth and their grandparent or whānau caregivers, of which 60% of our member clients are aged 50-64 years of age and 25% are over 65 years of age, and over 60% of the youth and children in their care have a physical or cognitive disability causing significant disadvantages in their lives, most of which is a result of trauma they have experienced". We requested funding for E14E (Everyone for Equality) which is our LGBTQIA+ support group for Rainbow rangatiahi in Southland. This is the only non-school group in Southland for under 19 yr olds. This group provides social and educational support and a safe place for rainbow rangatahi or those questioning their identity. Along with social activities, there are educational activities and providing a place where rainbow rangatahi can have a voice". Southland Youth One Stop Shop (Number 10)

"We offer a wrap around service, funding is required for travel, counselling, food bank costs, administration and general costs associated with running the office. Due to demand from families and individuals who are experiencing issues such as isolation, lack of family support, public transport, housing, limited rentals available, high rentals and food costs".Riverton Community Charitable Trust
